CALL FOR PAPERS – Dialogue between Conservation Experts and Other Stakeholders in Built Heritage Protection: 20th Anniversary of The Faro Convention
Florence (Italy), 13–14 March, 2025
The next conference of the International Scientific Committee on Theory and Philosophy of Conservation and Restoration (TheoPhilos) is focused on the dialogue between conservation experts and other stakeholders and rights-holders, and is jointly organised with the ICOMOS ISC on Education and Training (CIF).
2025 is both the the 20th anniversary of the Faro Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society, and the 60th anniversary of the foundation of ICOMOS. This provides a good opportunity to reflect on the relationship between the conservation experts – the architects, archaeologists, engineers, site managers, etc. – who are central to modern systems of monument protection and conservation, and the interests of the wider society we all ultimately serve, including the implications for our education and training.
The conference will address three groups of questions (in 3 sessions):
- The role, rights and tasks of conservation experts and other stakeholders in the protection and conservation of built heritage /theoretical approaches/
- The organization, training and education of conservation experts for multi-disciplinary work in conservation /methodological approaches/
- Examples of good practice of dialogue between conservation experts and stakeholders /practical approaches/
The deadline for paper abstracts is Saturday 18 January 2025 – for detailed instructions, including the link for submission of abstracts, please refer to the downloadable CALL FOR PAPERS. Authors of papers will be informed of the reviewers’ decision by Monday, 3 February 2025. Download the CALL FOR PAPERS here.
