FORTHCOMING – The Role of ICOMOS in the Evolution of Heritage Theory and Philosophy: Achievements, Problems, Challenges

Liège, Belgium, November 20–21, 2025
The next TheoPhilos conference marks the 60th anniversary of ICOMOS, and the 20th anniversary of the foundation of TheoPhilos, and will take place in Liège, Belgium from November 20–21, 2025.
Over the past six decades, ICOMOS – through its national and international scientific committees (ISCs) – has made significant contributions to the advancement of international heritage principles. In a context where heritage is increasingly threatened by armed conflict, climate change, and the instrumentalization of culture for political or economic purposes, the 60th anniversary of ICOMOS offers a timely opportunity to reflect on the organization’s role in shaping heritage theory and philosophy.
We are delighted to publish the programme for the conference, which will be held in English and followed by the peer-reviewed publication of papers.
All are welcome to attend the conference. As stated in the conference programme, in order to participate in the conference, either in person or virtually, please go to https://forms.gle/dXvye3Ni35upJonQ6 to complete the registration form; the deadline for registration is Sunday November 9, 2025.
